This year, Rhythm & Blues Cambridge is hosting our Black Love Day Celebration on Saturday, February 17th at Cambridge Community Players (formerly Little Galt Theatre).
In recognition of Black Love Day, we are joining Black leaders, community members, artists and entertainers for an afternoon of celebration starting at 1:00 pm.
Black Love Day has been celebrated in North America for the past 30 years with a singular purpose of demonstrating love, forgiveness, and acceptance among Black people. Rhythm & Blues Cambridge is excited to showcase this important date with our friends and neighbors.
The afternoon will begin with Master of Ceremonies Dwayne Morgan, spoken word artist and Canadian National Poetry Slam Champion sharing some of his work, followed by an open mic session providing an opportunity for local talented artists to perform. The headline performance of the afternoon will be Yasus Afari, a writer, dub poet, and musician joining us from Jamaica.
In addition to the performances on the main stage, there will be an opportunity to participate in an art activity throughout the event. A delicious lunch will be provided by Irie Myrie’s Caribbean Catering Company
Rhythm & Blues Cambridge works tirelessly to provide the Waterloo Region community with opportunities to celebrate Black excellence through education, music, dancing, and movement. This will be an uplifting afternoon filled with music, poetry, spoken word, and art. We hope to see you there!
