If you live in the KW region and have been struggling with or wanting to learn more about taking care of your child's or your own curly and afro-textured hair, then this is the workshop for you! We are very happy to present this workshop in partnership with Sassy Beauty Salon, Black Girl Excellence and the Kinbridge Community Association to help the families in the KW region take care of, honour and celebrate their natural hair.
Sassy Miller owner of Sassy Beauty Salon will be facilitating our first hair workshop focusing on protecting your hair. Join us for an empowering hair event dedicated to protecting and celebrating your beautiful kinks and coils. Learn the art of roller setting techniques and other protective style methods that promote hair health and vitality.
Our second Hair Workshop will be hands-on as we invite you to get creative. You will have the chance to work with your own mannequin's and create a beatiful hairstyle. Use whatever techniques you have learned or already know. There will be many accessories provided.
We will be offering a complimentary lunch, as well as door prizes, donated hair products, and more. The details of the workshops are as follows:

10:00 AM: Workshop #1 - Protecting Your Hair Under the Dryer Addition
In this workshop, families will be able to view our professional stylists showcase roller setting techniques and demonstrate various protectve hairstyles tailored for Black hair textures. Come and get hand-on guidance to perfect your roller setting skills and practice protective styling medthods with our mannequins. gain valuable insights on maintaining healthy natural hair, personalized care routines product recommendations
1 2:15 PM: Lunch & Community Connection
During this time, lunch will be provided by Jamadian Patties Plus. Participants will have an opportunity to connect with one another and learn more about Black Girl Excellence, the Kinbridge Community Association and Rhythm and Blues Cambridge.
1:15 PM: Workshop #2 - The Creativity Within You
In this workshop participants will be given an opportunity to work with a mannequin hands-on and create your own unique hairstyle. We would love to see you express your creativity!!
11:15 AM & 2:30 PM: Self-Love Seminars (after each workshop)
Registered psychotherapist Nicole Faulknor will conduct a self-love seminar providing resources around how to help you or your child navigate the discrimination, bullying, and lack of societal acceptance that they face due to their hair texture. In addition, Christine from Dream Chair Massage will also be offering free hand massages!
